Negative Ion Circulation
The XJ-2000 air ionizer has a higher ion output at the needlepoint, where the ions are produced. However, the XJ-3000C ionic air purifier will provide a higher negative ion level throughout the room, and even as little as a couple of feet away from the unit. This is due to the fact that the XJ-3000C uses a strong fan to circulate the negative ions throughout a larger area.
Both use needlepoint ionization (the highest ion-producing method available), and both use stainless steel for the needlepoints (the most durable material used for needlepoints). The XJ-2000 has 17 needlepoints (ion-producing electrode pins), while the XJ-3000C has two, which accounts for the fact that the XJ-2000 produces a higher output. XJ-2000 Air Ionizer - Stainless Steel Dust Collection PlatesThe combination air filter cartridge of the XJ-3000C will collect a far greater amount of particulate. The fan draws in far more particles than the amount that circulates through the XJ-2000. Plus, the HEPA and activated carbon air filters, which are the two best types of air filters, will trap particulate far more effectively than the metal collector plates of the XJ-2000.
The stainless steel collection plate will probably never need to be replaced, although the replacement HEPA/activated carbon combo filter only needs to be replaced every one to two years, and costs just $40 to replace.

Ozone Control
The XJ-3000C offers far more ozone control. You can completely disable ozone production ("OFF" setting), or you can boost the production to a far stronger level than what the XJ-2000 is capable of producing ("HIGH" setting). Plus, the XJ-3000C also has "LOW" and "MEDIUM" settings.
If you want to disable the ozone with the XJ-2000, the unit must be turned off, eliminating the benefit of the ionization, since ozone production is an inevitable byproduct of ionization. The air ionizers in the XJ-3000C also produce ozone. However, when the ozone generator is turned off, the small amount of ozone produced is absorbed by the activated carbon filter.

Car Plug Adapter
The XJ-2000 air ionizer includes an additional adapter for the vehicle's cigarette lighter, while the XJ-3000C UV HEPA & ionic air purifier can only be run from a wall outlet.

The XJ-2000 air ionizer requires some maintenance, while the XJ-3000C does not. However, the XJ-3000C has a filter cartridge that needs to be replaced once every year or two (at only $40 per replacement).
